29,2005 Oct. 9, 1918 Sept. 21, 2005 Garrett Oct. 6, 1916 Sept. 21, 2005 A memorial gathering for the family and friends of Laura Wood, Rhinelander, will be held Saturday, Oct.

1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Genoa City park. Wood, 77, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at St.

Marys Hospital in Rhinelander. She was bom Feb. 2, 1928, in Winnebago County, the daughter of Coral and Mazy Moon Mitchell. She was a housekeeper at the Playboy Club Resort in Lake Geneva for 25 years. She was a resident of Walworth County for most of her life until she moved to Prentice in 1998, then to Rhinelander in 2002.

Laura is survived by three daughters, Peggy (fiance Louie Fortier) Knull, Rhinelander, Dawn (Mike) Carter, Prentice, and Vickie Cunningham, Louisburg, a sister, Shirley (Maynard) Kinney, Walworth; a brother, Wayne (Sandi) Mitchell, Beloit; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Leslie Wood; a special friend, John Mrotz; a son, Charles; a grandson. Coral; five sisters, Opal, Maxine, Jaunita, Edith and Ruth; and five brothers, Jim, Leon, Russell, Fred and Duane. Carlson Funeral Home, Rhinelander, assisted the family with arrangements. County Tavern League and St.

Benedict Catholic Church, Fontana. He is survived by one son, Howard Butch (Jan) Garrett, Harvard, two daughters, Joanne (Lawrence) Austin and Gayle (Michael) Kolnik, both of Walworth; several grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Wittmus, Harvard. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Funeral mass of Christian burial was held Friday, Sept. 23, at St.

Benedict Catholic Church, Fontana, with the Rev. Daniel Sanders officiating. Burial followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Delavan Township. Friends visited with the family Friday evening at Toyntons Walworth Funeral Home. The family suggested memorials to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, Lake Geneva.

Howard R. Turk Garrett, 88, Fontana, died' Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Cherry Glen in Williams Bay. He was bom Oct. 6, 1916, in Fairplay, the son of Ulis H.

and Rosa Bell Sparks Garrett. He married Gertrude Mae Sullivan April 10, 1939. She preceded him in death April 10, 2005. Howard started his own company. Liquid Packaging and Equipment in Woodstock, 111.

He then merged with Lincoln Dairy and Supply Co. in St. Paul, and later sold the Minnesota company to Hercules, on the Big Board. He returned to Walworth and took over the family-owned Tommys Tavern with his wife and son. He was a member of Harvard Moose Lodge 1289, Woodstock Elks Club 1043, Woodstock Knights of Columbus 776, Walworth Stanley A.

Walczynski, 86, McHenry, 111., died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at the Fountains Health Care Center, Crystal Lake, 111. He was bom Oct. 9, 1918, in Chicago, the son of the late Stephan and Anelia Walkiewicz Walczynski. On March 27, 1954, in Chicago, he married Joan S.

Holtfodt. They have lived in McHenry for the past 47 years. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 12, 1941, until discharge on Sept.

14, 1945, with the 41st Infantry Sunset Division in the South Pacific. Stanley formerly worked as a foreman for the Nachman Corporation and then for 20 years as a machinist for the Telatype Corporation in Skokie, 111., before retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Chicago and McHenry, and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in McHenry. Stanley is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters, the Rev. Judy (Michael Krueger) Sherk, Steward.

and Mary (Ken)Foszcz, Richmond, five sons, Stanley (Pam), St. Charles, William (Joyce), Corvallis, Paul (Roxanne), Powers Lake, Chris, McHenry, and Thomas, Fox Lake, 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lottie (the late Stanley) Zmudzki, Chicago, and Janet Anderson, Huntington, W.V. Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Sept. 26, at the Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, with the Rev. Robert Sherry officiating.

Interment will be private. The family received friends Sunday at the Colonial Funeral Home, McHenry. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Habitat for Humanity or Heifer International. The Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Twin Lakes, assisted the family.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Millard. Services were held Monday, Sept.

26, at Luther Memorial Church, Delavan. The Rev. Elisa Brandt officiated. Entombment followed in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Visitation was at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Lake Geneva.

The family suggested memorials to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. Judith J. Judy Jankowsky, 65, Delavan Township, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at her home. The former Judith Barrett was born May 11, 1940, in Elkhom, the daughter of the late Miles and Margaret Bingham Barrett.

She married Robert R. Jankowsky Sept. 2, 1961, in Lake Geneva. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2003.

She had worked for many years as an inspector for Andes Candies, Delavan. She was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Delavan, and a member of the Red Hat Society at Vintage on the Pond. She is survived by two chil Poplar, Linda Laskowski, Friendship, James Lenling, Elkhom, Stanley Lange, Oshkosh, Steven Lange, Elkhorn, Susan Streibel, Milwaukee, and Lester Lange, Maplewood, 25 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, two sons, and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept.

22, at Toyntons Walworth Funeral Home, where friends called one hour prior to the service. Marie V. Lange, 90, Elkhom, formerly of Delavan, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhom. She was bom April 9, 1915, in Verdon, S.D., the daughter of William and Marie Swenson Inglis.

Marie worked at various restaurants and at Hevi-Duty before retiring in 1977. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan. She is survived by her children, Gloria Olson, Pequat Lakes, Clifford Lenling, Barbara V. Weise, 90, Lake Geneva, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, 111., after battling multiple organ failure for 12 weeks.

She was bom Sept. 19, 1915, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Carroll and Beulah Ebaugh Zepp and sister of Dorothy Taylor, Mt. Vernon, Va. Barbara is best remembered as a talented actress for her starring roles in numerous community theatre productions of such hits as Rain, Sabrina and Harvey, to name a few, during the 1960s. She also was the first woman cured of uterine cancer in the 1940s and crusaded as the American Cancer Societys spokesperson during the 1950s.

She appeared on numerous television spots on behalf of the Cancer Society. As well as a wife and mother, she worked outside the home as a business manager and continued to be active in numerous charities and church groups throughout her life. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Helene Gardner, Lake Geneva and Joliet; her son, Carl William Weise, Winfield, two granddaughters; a great-grandson; a nephew; and her beloved friend, Ron Geman, Lake Geneva. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Weise, in 1995, and her sister, Dorothy Taylor. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept.

29, at 7 p.m. at the chapel at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.

20, 1975, in Key West, Fla. He was a self-employed house painter around the Lake Geneva area for many years, and was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his mother, Yvonne Nesbitt, Independence; a daughter, Stacy (Paul) Gebhart; three grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Nesbitt, Osceola, and two sisters, Dana (Baxter) Lee, Kansas City, and Dawn Nesbitt, Independence. He was preceded in death by his father. A service of remembrance was held Saturday, Sept.

24, at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Lake Geneva. John Mike Nesbitt, 56, Genoa City, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at his home. He was bom Jan. 7, 1949, in Chicago, the son of Cleo and Yvonne Morbee Nesbitt.

He grew up in Independence, where he was a Boy Scout and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from De La Salle High School in Independence, with the class of 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and proudly served one term of duty in Vietnam as an MP. He was processed out of the army at Fort Sheridan, 111., which is how he came to the Lake Geneva area.

He worked at the Playboy Club in Lake Geneva for five years, where he met his wife. Alice Annette McConnell, 98, Burlington, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at her home. She was bom Oct. 8, 1906, on the family farm in Walworth County, to Orville Edgar and Beula Rebecca Motley Harrison.

She grew up in the Richmond, 111., and Genoa City area as one of nine children. She graduated from State Teachers College in Milwaukee with a degree in music, and went on to become Supervisor of Public School Music in Benton. On Sept. 30, 1930, she was united in marriage with Fred W. McConnell.

He preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2000. Alice was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Dickson, Sarasota, one brother, Robert (June) Harrison, Hazelhurst; and 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, David; five sisters, Clarice Hunt, Harriet Dowd, Florence Rice, Helen Bjeming, and Beatrice Baker; and one brother, Lavalle Harrison.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Marjorie Rice Myers officiating. Inunmment will take place Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

27, at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Lake Geneva. Bernice Bassing, chaplain of the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, officiated. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Geneva. Arndt H. Hansen, 81, Lake Geneva and Linn Township, died Wednesday, Sept.

21, 2005, at Geneva Lake Manor Nursing Home, Lake Geneva. He was bom Sept. 1 8, 1924, in Chicago, the son of the late Arthur and Lillian Ellis Hansen. He graduated from Crane High School in Chicago in 1941. He was a veteran of World War serving with the U.S.

Navy aboard a destroyer in the Pacific Theater. He had been employed as a tool and die maker with many Chicago area companies. Arndt enjoyed hunting and Richard W. Ackley July 15, 1952 Sept. 27, 2005 Faith A.

Rossmiller Dec. 5, 1946 Sept. 25, 2005 Richard W. Ackley, 53, Fontana, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at his residence.

He was bom July 15, 1952, in Fort Riley, the son of Richard and Theresa Jansky Ackley. He married Maria Agricola Nov. 3, 1970, in Bohemia, New York. Richard served in the U.S. Navy and owned and operated his own woodworking company.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons, Jeremy (Jennifer) Ackley, Lake Geneva, and Aragam Ackley, Genoa City; daughter, Lisa (Danny) Sojka, Lake Como; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Valarie Ackley, Genoa City, Susan Genske, Kansas City, and Barbie Rathbun, Elizabethtown, Ky. He was preceded in death by. his parents. Funeral services are pending. Steinke Funeral Home, Lake Geneva, is in charge of arrangements.

Beverly (Gerald) Babcock, Brook; DeLores (Doug) Ward, Janesville, and Mary (William) Ostrander, Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Geraldine Stromley; and a brother, Donald Orsbume. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at the Steinke Funeral Home, Lake Geneva, with the Rev. Cory A.

Braatz of the Como Community Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Bloom City Cemetery, Bloom City. Faith A.

Rossmiller, 58, Delavan, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, 111. She was bom Dec. 5, 1946, in Sparta, the daughter of Gerald and Vivian Jeffries Orsbume. Faith married Raymond Rossmiller on Aug.

2, 1980, in Geneva Township. He preceded her in death April 3, 1997. She is survived by a daughter, Tracy Orsbume, Somerset, Texas; stepsons, Kevin Rossmiller, Lake Como, Chris Rossmiller, Whitewater, and Ray Rossmiller, Delavan; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; sisters, Carolee (John) Babcock, Phrump, We all want to do whatever we can to help protect our family. 17, 2002. Celestine was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Chicago, and the Wayman Chapel, Delavan. She also was a teacher of arts and crafts. Celestine is survived by a daughter, LaEunice LMinggio, Janesville; two sons, Arthur (Rosa) Lutcher, Delavan, and Hardy (Percella) Lutcher, Chicago; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Massey, Chicago, and Claudine Lee, East Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Celestine Voice, a son, Ivan C.

Lutcher, a sister, Eddie B. Wade, and a brother, Hardeitha Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at Steinke Funeral Home, Lake Geneva. Visitation will take place an hour before the service begins.
