CONTINUED FROM PAGE 5 Wisconsin law enforcement officials are required to read anyone accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated a standardized form called, Informing the Accused. You unwittingly agreed to this procedure when you apply for your. drivers license. Please keep in mind that you are not allowed to read this document when it is verbally presented to you.

If you answer as I did, that you need to read this document before agreeing to its contents, you will lose your driving privileges for one year and a DWI citation will be issued (that) can never be removed from your permanent driving record. You will forever be known as someone who drives while intoxicated. Please protect yourself. I did not know these facts, and must now suffer the consequences for asking to read this document. I was later told by my attorney that a refusal to answer to the verbal question is an admission of guilt.

This is what the document says: Under Wisconsin's Implied Consent Law, I am required to read this notice to you: You have either been arrested for an offense that involves driving or operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or both, or you are suspected of driving on duty time with respect to a commercial motor vehicle after consuming an intoxicating beverage. This law enforcement agency now wants to test one or more samples of your breath, blood or urine to determine the concentration of alcohol or drugs in your system. If any test shows more alcohol in your system than the law permits while driving, your operating privileges will be suspended. If you refuse to take any test that this agency requests, your operating privileges will be revoked and you-will be subject to other penalties. The test results or the fact that you refused testing can be used against you in court.

If you take all the required tests, you may choose to take further tests. You may take the alternative test that this law enforcement agency provides free of charge. You also may have a test conducted by a qualified person of your choice at your expense. You, however, will have to make your own arrangements. If you have a commercial driver license or were operating a commercial vehicle, other consequences may result from a positive test result or from refusing testing; such as being placed out of services or disqualified.

Will you submit to an evidentiary chemical test of your (breath, blood, urine)? I was thoroughly confused by the third and fourth paragraphs, as you may have been after reading it for yourselves. I would suggest that if you find yourself falsely accused that you do not allow the police to release you before taking an actual chemical test, or in that event that you are told you are free to go, you visit a local hospital emergency room immediately after your release in order to have blood drawn for your own proof of innocence. May you all fare better than I have from the foreknowledge of this document and its outrageous contents. Sincerely Troy A. Dyer, Lake Geneva resident Every funeral service deserves to be truly memorable, flawlessly planned, and correct to the smallest detail.

The families of our community have long turned to us because we give every funeral service that kind of respect. In fact, giving our best is simply the way we do everything here. That can go a long way toward providing real comfort for the families we serve. And we think that makes our funeral home a special place indeed.
